nosy: showing too much curiosity about other people’s affairs
I will forever be nostalgic for peak 2010 YouTube when “beauty gurus” were today’s “influencers”. The vibe at that time was truly “for the girls” in a way that’s oh so different than today’s quick cuts, beauty filters, and unrelenting product pushing on TikTok shop-immediate swipe next byeee. As my semi-concerned but mostly perplexed mother could attest, I sat for hours as a new teen consuming everything from what’s in my bag videos to Bath & Body Works hauls to Victoria’s Secret Pink mall crawls until my iPod touch (rip) got so overheated it burned to the touch. In retrospect, Youtube was my Vogue and these girls, the Blairs (juicystar07), Elles (allthatglitters21) and Lindseys (beautybaby44) were my Cindy Crawfords and Brooke Shields. I didn’t grow up with sisters, so being (virtually invited) into Blair’s, pink and green bedroom if only for a 10 min video once a week felt like my initiation into girlhood culture. To this day, I’ll watch her now decades old collection of what’s in my bag videos when I need a nostalgic dose of zillenial escapism.
I credit these pioneers of influencerism for shaping me into the self proclaimed nosy girl I am today. Enough with the gatekeeping and (I imagine smugly) saying “it’s thrifted xo” when someone comments asking where your fabulous suede coat is from. Queen, it may be thrifted but I know there’s a tag hiding on it somewhere! You see, my gurus never gatekept and when sharing the contents of their latest Juicy velour bag or Speedy, they gave us all the deets down to the forgotten crumpled receipts of Black Friday purchases past. And so, whenever I see a bag, box, closed door, what have you, I desperately want to know what’s inside. Call me creepy or cheesy but when I’m feeling lost in the throes of a quarter life crisis (a pretty regular occurrence these days) it’s the things around me, in my bag, on my nightstand etc. that remind me of the things I love, routines I keep, and more deeply, what makes me, me.
So please enjoy my-what's in my bag. For a more accurate picture you can imagine no less than 10 Lactaid pills, Splenda packets, receipts, expired Ativan, Motrin, some kind of snack, and a few straws I definitely stole because the second a paper straw (ew) gets soggy, it’s time to switch it out.
What’s in my bag
My ride-or-die dream bag cherry Murakami LV Speedy 25. A true Mary Poppins bag and practically perfect in every way. I got mine lightly used from Rebag & she’s been adored by present day me and y2k it girls of years past.
My phone is usually in my hand and rarely if ever makes it into my bag. I’m chronically online, what can I say? But, it always wears a Wildflower case to match my mood. I’ve been loving this kisses one as we enter V-Day season.
A phone charm that I can also double as a bag charm when I feel like spicing up my speedy. Most of mine are from Etsy but I also live for a puffy heart charm from String Ting, one of my fave brands of 2024.
Key pouch-it’s the only way I can remember my keys and my cards. Mine is a very worn and loved key clés from LV but I want to switch it out for a vintage Murakami one!
We are pro bougie hand cream here-tin tube, fancy shmancy potions derived from ancient oils all encouraged. I’ll collect and try them all. I’m a sucker for Chanel’s novelty egg shaped hand cream-the formula isn’t groundbreaking but the shape is just soooo swoon-worthy.
Bonnie Clyde blue light glasses to ward off my tech induced migraines
Gisou honey infused lip oil in either Watermelon Sugar or Cherry on the Cake for a slightly sparkly moisturized pout. Base layer lippie of choice goes to Image Skincare Ormedic lip peptide. Got this at a med spa after a refreshing facial where the facialist politely noticed my dry as the desert lips and suggested this little tube that is mainly used to soothe irritation after getting lip filler.
Emi Jay claw clip-probably 2 because you never know what the vibe of a potential flat lay will require.
A compact mirror over the front facing camera any day. This Tiffany blue Miu Miu specimen was once someone’s free gift with purchase. Now, it’s my treasure.
I’ll have more of my fave phone cases, charms, and products you can commonly find in my bag in the link collection below!
eBay little luxuries for logo hoes
Your trash is my treasure. Your free gift with purchase is something I’ll gladly buy off of you for $40. What can I say? I’m a logo hoe and I love a trinket. A 1am tableau in my apartment consists of me, fully sober, fully rotting in bed, Siamese cat on my pillow, and scouring eBay for wee little designer treasures. A vintage Japanese YSL tea set? A free gift with purchase Gucci Beauty comb in a sateen pouch? A Miu Miu sunglasses display (see below) that was most definitely stolen by some brave eBay soldier and resold for a ridiculously high price to me? Add to cart! Make an offer! Buy it Nowwwww! Here are some current trinkets and treasures I’ve found to curb your logo loving lust. I’ll be updating the links frequently as they sell out!

Very, very honorable mention to visual artist, Sarah Coleman’s repurposed designer canvas lighter and pill bottle cases. She’s collabed with Fendi- remember the vertigo print?- and has her own line of upcycled ultra-fab treasures on display at Zitomer’s, C.O Bigelow, and Madison Apothecary-need I say more? I’ve been seriously lusting for a Murakami cherry pill bottle to house my Zoloft. Who knew that taking your crazy pills could be so chic?!

Another jewel of writing 🍒
Obsessed as always!
